Chennai: Four men threatened and snatched three mobile phones from a man and two women when they were chatting behind Kannagi Statue on Marina Beach.Police said Sarath Kumar, 25, of Nariyankadu police quarters in Pudupet, went to Marina Beach with his two friends on Friday. While they were chatting around 11.30pm, four men came there. Two of them were carrying wooden logs in their hands. They threatened to attack the three if they did not part with cash and valuables.Two of them targeted the two women while the third person targeted Sarath Kumar. The fourth suspect snatched their three mobile phones and left the place. Based on Sarath Kumar’s complaint, the Anna Square police have registered a case and searched for the four suspects. A police officer said, “policemen on patrolling vehicles usually go on rounds on the beach service roads around 10pm and instruct all visitors to leave the beach.”

Chennai college students snatch guest workers mobile phone

Two college students in Chennai were arrested for snatching a mobile phone from a guest worker. The students, A Purushothkumar and K Ravichandra Raja, escaped on a two-wheeler after the incident. However, they were chased and caught by two residents who handed them over to the police. The stolen phone was recovered, and the students were remanded in judicial custody. Purushothkumar is a BBA student, and Ravichandra Raja is a BCom student, both studying in a college in Koyambedu.
