KALABURAGI: A seven-year-old girl is battling for life after she fell into a huge vessel of boiling sambar, at the Chinamagera government school in Afzalpur taluk, around 610 km from Bengaluru, on Thursday.
The incident took place just before the midday meals was to be served. A huge vessel containing sambar was being brought from the kitchen when Mahanthamma Shivappa Jamadar, a class 2 student, rushed out of her classroom and fell headlong into the vessel.The teachers rushed her to a government hospital.

On Friday, Mahanthamma was shifted to the burns ward of a private hospital for further medical care. She has suffered 50% burns, said doctors . Kalaburagi DDPI Sakreppagouda Biradar told TOI that he has instructed headmasters, teachers as well as cooks to henceforth serve the cooked food in smaller vessels to avoid such accidents.
