Ballari MP’S Son: Woman accuses Ballari MP’s son of cheating her on pretext of marriage | Bengaluru News_INSIGHT

BENGALURU/ MYSURU/ HOSAPETE: A 24-year-old woman from Bengaluru filed a cheating case against Ballari MP (BJP) Devendrappa’s son Ranganath, stating that he had cheated her on the pretext of marriage.
The woman, who claimed to be a realtor, alleged that Ranganath was avoiding her after forcing her into a physical relationship with him.
“We became friends in 2022.Sometime later, Ranganath proposed marriage to me. Ranganath said he is a PU college lecturer in Mysuru with a decent salary. He promised to look after me after marriage. On January 24 this year, he met me at a hotel in Bengaluru and we travelled to Mysuru. There, he took me to a hotel room and got physical with me. Next day, he sent me back to Bengaluru. When I asked him about our marriage, he started issuing threats. He is avoiding me now,” the woman stated in her complaint.
Based on her complaint, an FIR was registered at Basavanagudi women’s police station under various IPC sections.
Responding to reporters’ queries at Arasikere in Harapanahalli taluk of Vijayanagara district, the Ballari MP said the woman called him when he was returning from Delhi. Devendrappa termed the development a political conspiracy against him.
“My opponents are behind this as Lok Sabha elections are around the corner. The woman had called me recently, saying my son had cheated on her. I told her that I haven’t seen her at all, and if anyone needs justice, he or she should take the legal route. When I questioned my son, he told me that he had paid her some money since she took my name. Whatever has happened between them, I don’t know,” he said, and added: “There is a gang operating like this in Bengaluru. All are equal before the law. My son has done no wrong.”
Plaint against woman
In Mysuru, Ranganath filed a police complaint accusing the woman and a man from Bengaluru of trying to extort money from him.
Police also booked a case against them under the provision of SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act along with extortion under the IPC. In his complaint to Vijayanagar police, Ranganath had claimed that the woman and the man had threatened and demanded Rs 15 lakh from him. He knew the woman through a common friend. But later, the woman allegedly started forcing him to marry her. She abused him using casteist remarks during a meeting at a hotel recently, he said in the complaint.
