Bengaluru: A gang of three assaulted a 24-year-old man and chased him across the street after he refused to bring them cigarettes. A day after the victim lodged a complaint, one of the accused waylaid him again and threatened him with a machete.
Baksh, who runs a welding shop and is a resident of Gangondanahalli, told Chandra Layout police the original incident happened around 3.30pm on Tuesday when he was on his way home after finishing work.He was intercepted by three persons — Musa, Immu, and Mutta — who ordered him to get them a cigarette. When he refused, Musa pulled out a Rs 20 note and reiterated the demand.
“I told the trio I’m not a small boy for them to order like that. The three got angry and started hurling abuses before assaulting me. Musa took a tile and hit me on the head,” Baksh told TOI. “When the trio was trying to cause more harm, I ran away. They chased me till my home. As I neared my house, I started shouting for help. When my family members came out, the trio escaped in their scooter.” He was taken to a nearby hospital and administered four stitches on his forehead. He was threatened again after he filed a police plaint. tnn
