
PILIBHIT: Two people were killed and one person was seriously injured in two separate road incidents in Pilibhit district since Friday evening. Apart from this, a 25-year-old man was found hanging from a tree on Saturday.
The three bodies were sent for post-mortem, while the injured man was shifted to the Pilibhit district hospital. No FIR has been registered in any of the cases yet as the police are awaiting written complaints.
On Friday evening, farmer Jamuna Prasad (60) of Nakatia village was walking home after buying vegetables when he was hit by a bike.As he fell down, he was run over by a sugarcane-laden tractor on Pilibhit-Basti NH 730. The vehicle was impounded by the police but the driver fled the spot, said station house officer (SHO) Rupa Visht.
The second accident occured on Saturday morning near the Pilibhit district magistrate’s residence when the motorcycle of Kunwar Sen of Tah village and his wife, Ram Beti (50), was hit by a tractor. The two were shifted to the district hospital where Ram Beti was declared dead. Her husband who was seriously injured was admitted for treatment, said Naresh Kumar Tyagi, the SHO of Pilibhit Kotwali police station, adding that the driver and the vehicle were nabbed by the police.
In the third incident, Sanjeev Kumar (25) was found hanging from a tree in Kalliya village on Saturday morning. The reason behind the hanging is yet unknown and only the pot-mortem report will tell whether it was a murder or a suicide, said SHO Pradeep Vishnoi.
